Students in grades 7-12 that have failed a core class with an average of a 40%-59% are eligible for Credit Recovery. Students that scored below a 40% are eligible to retake the entire course through Summer School. The deadline to complete and return a Credit Recovery/Summer School forms to Mrs. Green is May 27th. Students are only eligible to to take two core courses during the summer school/credit recovery. Summer School/Credit Recovery is held at Chilton County High School. The cost is $250 per course. Payment should be made online by June 1, 2026. Please see the link below to submit payment. Scoll down until you see "Pay for Summer School." Digital copies of Summer School/Credit Recovery information and forms were sent out on ParentSquare. Hard copies will also be available on the table outside the main office for anyone that needs to pick one up. Please keep in mind that the school office will be closed on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.
Parents of students in 7th & 8th grade, if a students fails a core class (English, Math, Science, or Social Studies) and chooses not to complete the course in summer school/credit recovery, the student will be retained in their current grade level and have to repeat all courses again next year. If a student in the 7th or 8th grade fails more than two core courses, they will automatically be retained in the current grade level for the next school year.
For students in grades 9-12, if the students fails their English course and doesn't make it up during Credit Recovery/Summer School, they will be retained. Students are promoted based on their successful completion of their grade level English course and their number of credits. If students fall below their required number of credits for each grade level, they will be retained. To be a Sophomore, students must have 6 credits including 9th grade English. To be a Junior, students must have 12 credits including 10th grade English. To be a Senior, students must be in their 4th year of high school and have 18 credits including 11th grade English.
Please make sure payment and forms are submitted on time. High School core content teachers will be making contact with parents over the next few days to let them know if their child needs to attend Summer School/Credit Recovery due to failing a class.
